FractRoam glides forever through the Mandelbrot and Julia sets — a continuous, hand-tuned autopilot that dives into the filaments, surfaces to fresh territory, and drifts through six color moods as it goes. It's the same roaming engine as the iOS app, running as your screen saver.
Install it
- Download FractRoamSS-2.0.1.zip and unzip it (double-click).
- Double-click FractRoam.saver, then choose Install for this user.
- It opens System Settings → Wallpaper (screen savers live under Wallpaper on recent macOS). Scroll to FractRoam and select it.
It's signed & notarized by Kaolin Fire, so it installs without Gatekeeper warnings. Universal — one download runs natively on Apple Silicon and Intel Macs. Requires macOS 11 (Big Sur) or later.
Prefer it in your pocket? FractRoam is on the App Store for iPhone and iPad, where you can pinch, pan, and share the spots you find. FractRoam began life as a Linux & Windows program back in 2001 — that original open-source C is still available there.
